The Hunger Run
The Hunger Run is an annual community event held in Columbus, Ohio, to support Neighborhood Services Inc. (NSI). The 7th Annual edition of this fundraiser takes place at a new location in Wolfe Park. The event aims to raise money and spread awareness regarding food insecurity in Central Ohio, benefiting a local food pantry that has served the University District and surrounding areas since 1965.
Participants can choose between several event formats:
- 5K Run/Walk (In-person)
- 1 Mile Run/Walk (In-person)
- 5K Run/Walk (Virtual)
- 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk (Virtual)
The in-person races are held on a Saturday, while the virtual options provide an extended window for participation. Registered participants have access to early packet pickup, and on-site amenities include race day parking and an after-party. Standard registration includes various items of event merchandise, often referred to as swag.
The event offers a tiered pricing structure with a reduced registration fee for participants aged 23 and younger. Results and photos are traditionally made available following the completion of the physical event. All proceeds support NSI's initiatives, which include a produce market and emergency assistance programs for local residents. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
