The Honor Connor 5k & Smile Mile
The Honor Connor 5k & Smile Mile is a community road event held on May 16, 2026, at the Birdville High stadium in North Richland Hills, Texas. The event includes a 5k and a 1 mile fun run and is presented to honor the life of a young runner who died in a preventable lake drowning in 2012. Proceeds benefit The LV Project, a 501(c)(3) organization focused on drowning prevention and buoyancy programs.
The 5k course is USATF certified and the race is USATF sanctioned. The route follows scenic, tree-lined lake trails and is described as mostly flat and gentle. The 5k uses ChronoTrack B-tag timing; the 1 mile is an untimed fun run.
Awards include an official finisher medal, overall and age group awards, and team awards for largest team, fastest team, and the most buoyant team. Team recognition also includes trophies and the event's smile-themed team trophy. Packet pickup is provided at a nearby community center prior to race day, and race day packet pickup is available. Dogs and strollers are permitted with a request that participants be considerate of others on the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
