Course, aid and rules
Courses use a mix of horse trail, dirt single and double track, and prairie path. The 50K route shows roughly ~4400 ft elevation gain, the 25K about ~2200 ft, and the 15K about ~1250 ft. Route markings: orange stakes/flags/tape for the 50K and 25K, and green for the 15K. All turns and crossings will be marked; wrong-way trails receive pink signs.
There are four aid station locations named Cox Hollow, Ranger Station, Horse Camp and Twin Valley. Aid stations are stocked with water, electrolyte drink, soda, gels, chews, snacks, and hot food at some stations. The event is cup-less; participants must carry their own hydration vessel. The 50K has a drop bag tent at Twin Valley and designated crew spaces at Twin Valley and Cox Hollow. Pacers and crewing are allowed only for the 50K (pacers may join from Cox Hollow to the finish). Participants must check in at every aid station. Course cutoffs are given as elapsed times (for example the 50K course cutoff is 9 hours). EMS and athletic trainers are stationed at race headquarters and will patrol the course. Event personnel may remove any participant deemed unsafe to continue. Littering or cutting the course can result in a DNF. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
