The Guv'nor Frozen 50
The Guv'nor Frozen 50 is a winter trail event held at Governor Dodge State Park in Dodgeville, Wisconsin. Distances offered are:
- 50K
- 25K
- 15K
Courses follow a mix of horse trails, dirt single and double track, and prairie paths. Course specifics:
- 50K: 31.4 miles over two loops, about 4,475 ft elevation gain, seven aid stations, Twin Valley and Cox Hollow offer designated crewing spaces and a Twin Valley drop-bag tent.
- 25K: 15.8 miles one loop, about 2,276 ft elevation gain, three aid stations.
- 15K: 9.3 miles one loop, about 1,282 ft elevation gain, one aid station.
Route markings use colored snow stakes, pin flags, arrow signs and tape; turns and trail crossings are marked and distance-specific directional signs indicate course splits. A snow course alternative uses shorter loops if heavy snow limits access; loop lengths, aid station counts and elevation per loop are specified for that plan.
Aid stations stock water, Skratch Labs hydration, sodas, gels, electrolytes, and a variety of food; some stations offer hot food. The event is cup-less; participants must carry their own hydration vessel. Pacers and crewing are allowed for the 50K with specified meeting points. Due to hunting season and winter conditions participants should wear highly visible orange clothing.
