Event overview
The Great Volcanic Mountain Challenge will take place on Sunday, 29 March 2026. The event marks the 20th running of this mountain race and walking event. Registrations are open. The event is held on Gaanha Bula - Mount Canobolas near Orange in the Central West of New South Wales.
Course and route
The course crosses three peaks and goes through native forest. The route covers a total distance of 11 km with 520 metres of climb. The event offers both running and walking on the same course.

The organisers acknowledge the Wiradjuri Nation as the traditional owners of the lands used for the event and pay respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.
