The Great Volcanic Mountain Challenge - Sunday 29 March 2026

The Great Volcanic Mountain Challenge takes place on Gaanha Bula Mount Canobolas near Orange in the Central West of New South Wales. The 2026 event marks the twentieth running of this mountain event and is scheduled for Sunday 29 March 2026.

The main course covers 11 km with a total climb of 520 metres, and routes traverse three peaks and native forest. The event accommodates both running and walking on the mountain terrain. Over two decades, thousands of participants have taken part in the event.

Organisers provide course maps, including a map for the main GVMC course and a Family Trail course map. The event acknowledges the traditional owners of the land, the Wiradjuri Nation, and notes respect for their care and stewardship of these lands.
