Trail Running at Mount Canobolas
The Lonely Mountain Ultra takes place on Gaanha-bula Mount Canobolas, situated just outside of Orange, New South Wales. The event utilizes the terrain of the Canobolas State Forest, offering a course that transitions through various landscapes including fire trails, woodlands, and open pasture.
Participants reach elevations of nearly 1400 metres, providing views over the New South Wales Central West region. The event site is located on the traditional lands of the Wiradjuri people. The competition includes a wide variety of distances to accommodate different experience levels:
- 100 Mile ultra-marathon
- 104 km ultra-marathon
- 50 Mile ultra-marathon
- 50 km ultra-marathon
- 32 km trail run
- 22 km trail run
- 11 km trail run
- 4 km and 2 km events for children
