Event overview
The Kinder Barrel Race is a fell race held in Edale, Hope Valley, UK. The event takes place from a new base at Newfold Farm Campsite, opposite the Nags Head Pub, and since 2023 it starts and finishes in Edale. There are three events on the same day: the team Barrel Race (The Barrel), an individual fell race over the same course (The Pint), and a children’s race (The Half-Pint). The team Barrel Race involves teams of eight carrying a barrel or beer over the moors and back. The event is described as a family friendly day.
Logistics and fundraising
Entries open 1st April 2026. Spectators are welcome and the field will include a bouncy castle, BBQ, cake stall and a bar. Parking is signed in the village and one parking space is reserved for each Barrel Race team to help with equipment. Organisers encourage travel by train for environmental reasons and entrants who show train tickets will be given free cake. All profits support Hope and Edale Primary Schools.
