The Great Gator 5K & Fun Run
The Great Gator 5K & Fun Run is an annual community event held in Bossier City, Louisiana. Now in its fifth year, the event serves as a fundraiser for Elm Grove Elementary. The race activities take place at Walker Park on the Arthur Ray Teague Parkway.
Participants can choose from the following event options:
- Gator 5K: A 3.1-mile run or walk.
- 1/2 Mile Fun Run: A 0.5-mile run or walk around the park.
- Lazy Gator: A non-running category that includes an event t-shirt.
The course is open to participants using strollers, wagons, and baby joggers, provided they remain at a walking pace. However, in accordance with RRCA regulations, runners with baby strollers and individuals using inline or roller skates are not permitted on the run course. Leashed dogs are welcome to attend the event.
Awards are presented to the first place overall male and female finishers, as well as the first place overall elementary male and female participants. Recognition is also provided across several age groups ranging from 11 and under to 60 and over. T-shirts are included with registration, though they are only guaranteed for those who register by the specified deadline in late March. Packet pickup is available on the days preceding the event at a local running store or at the race site on the morning of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
