The Great Cow Harbor 10K Run & 2K Fun Run : Northport, NY
The event offers in-person and virtual options over two primary distances. It is held in Northport, New York, with number pickup at William J Brosnan School the day before and the morning of the race. The in-person 10K is USATF certified and is capped at 5,000 registrants; a waitlist is available and participants may be selected from the waitlist through September 1.
Start waves are seeded by predicted finish time and groups are released one minute apart. Runners are assigned staging areas by the color and number on their race bib; bibs should be worn on the front mid-torso for accurate split and finish times. Split clocks are provided at every mile and a recorded 5K split is available. Water is supplied at the start and just after the 2, 3, 4 and 5 mile splits.
Amenities include an award ceremony at the gazebo, baggage UPS trucks for bag check, raffle with on-site prize pickup, live online timing and same-day finish line photos, and media coverage. Prize money is offered for top overall and masters finishers, with age-group awards and para-athlete awards available for pick up on race day.
Proceeds support Special Olympics Long Island, Northwell Health Foundation, the Veterans Administration, a local food pantry and other local causes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
