The Golden Hour
The Golden Hour is a November 28, 2027 event at Lakewood Nature Preserve in Greenville, SC (220 Lakewood Drive). The day combines two separate one-hour running races with a mid-day festival for families and spectators.
Each race takes place on a 1 mile loop. Runners have 60 minutes to complete as many full one-mile laps as they can; only completed laps count. Morning and evening participants each receive a finisher medal. The Golden Double option combines both races; overall awards for Golden Double finishers are based on combined AM and PM mileage, with trophies for the top three men and top three women by combined distance. Age group awards are given separately for the morning and evening races, with 1st through 3rd place in each of the 15 age groups.
The festival between races features a Family Zone with activities such as pumpkin painting, an inflatable obstacle course, a kids dash, and a makers market, plus a Social Scene with music, cornhole, spikeball, food trucks, and local brewery and cider vendors. Event extras noted in the schedule include complimentary pancakes for morning runners and complimentary s'mores for evening runners. Live results post as runners finish and event photos are typically available within 48–72 hours.
The event supports Children's Cancer Partners of the Carolinas and counts laps toward the Upstate Trail Series. Group registrations of five or more receive a $5 refund per person. Registration fees vary by entry type. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
