The Frostbite
The Frostbite is an annual running event in Starkville, Mississippi, with a history of more than 41 years. The race uses a course that begins and ends on Main Street and passes through the Cotton District, the Mississippi State University campus, and Starkville's Historic District. The event includes a traditional winter half marathon plus shorter race options to broaden participation.
Parking is available in and around Main Street; participants may need to walk a few blocks to the start area. Race day packet pickup is available at the race site, and an early pickup location is planned but to be determined. The event uses chip timing provided by Stearn's Race Timing. Awards are distributed near the timing tent at the finish area.
Water and aid are provided along the course. There are three water stations located at roughly mile 4, mile 6, and mile 11. Based on the course layout, 5K entrants do not have access to a water station during the race, 10K entrants can use two stations, and half marathon entrants can use five stations. Strollers are permitted but the course includes some small hills. Relay entries for the half marathon are not offered. Participants receive moisture wicking shirts, race souvenir cups, custom swag bags, and medals. The half marathon has a three hour time limit.
