Event Overview

The Forge Quad-Athlon is a multi-sport event in Old Forge, New York. It consists of four disciplines completed in sequence: mountain biking, hiking, trail running, and kayaking.

Event Formats

Two event formats are offered:

  • Quad-Athlon (Bike, Hike, Run, Kayak) for individual participants.
  • 2 Person Quad-Athlon for teams.

Course Breakdown

The event starts and finishes at the George T. Hiltebrant Recreation Center. The total course distance is approximately 26.5 miles. The sequence is:

  1. A 13-mile mountain or gravel bike segment on the Tobie Trail (snowmobile trails).
  2. A hike on the trails of Vista Mountain, covering roughly 4.5 miles.
  3. A 2.6-mile trail run on the Tobie Trail to Rondaxe Road.
  4. A 5.4-mile kayak paddle down the Moose River. This section is described as calm with a slight current.
  5. A final 1-mile run back to the recreation center.

Requirements & Logistics

A helmet is required for the bike segment, and a life jacket is required for the kayak segment. The event is limited to 200 total participants. Kayak rentals are available through local outfitters.

Post-Event

A BBQ meal at the Mountainside Smokehouse & Grill is included for registered individual entrants, with vegan and vegetarian options available. Participants' bikes will be transported to this location. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
