The Fast & The Furriest
The Fast & The Furriest is a fundraising 5K event at Edison Mall in Fort Myers on November 7, 2026, benefiting Gulf Coast Humane Society. The event includes both an in person run/walk and a virtual 5K option.
The event offers a chip timed 5K course through and around the mall. Packet pickup details are listed as coming soon, and race day pickup will be provided. Pre race warm up and post race cool down sessions will be led by Club Pilates. Local vendors and food trucks will be on site before and after the event.
- 5K in person
- 5K virtual
The event is dog friendly with specific safety rules: standard leashes only (no retractable leashes), leash length limited to six feet, one dog per participant, and current rabies and core vaccinations required. Dogs must be well behaved around crowds and other dogs. Participants are expected to clean up after their pets; poop bags will be available on site. Event staff may remove any participant, human or canine, if safety becomes a concern.
Water will be available for both people and pets along the course. Registered participants receive a race t shirt, finisher medal, swag bag, and awards will be given to top finishers. Proceeds support care, shelter, medical services, and other support for animals through Gulf Coast Humane Society. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
