The Fast & The Furriest is a chip-timed 5K run/walk held at Edison Mall in Fort Myers. The event benefits the Gulf Coast Humane Society and directs proceeds to support animal care and rehoming efforts. Registration opens 2026-03-28 and closes 2026-08-30; the stated registration fee is $30.00. Packet pickup details are pending, and race day packet pickup will be available.
The event is dog-friendly; participants may bring one leashed, well-behaved dog per runner or walker. Organizers require standard non-retractable leashes no longer than six feet and that dogs be current on rabies and core vaccinations. Dogs must tolerate crowds and other animals; aggressive dogs will be asked to leave. Participants are expected to clean up after their pets and waste bags will be provided on site. Water will be available for people and pets along the course.
Participants receive an event T-shirt, a finisher medal with a commemorative race leash, and access to a post-race gathering with dog-friendly activities. Awards are planned for top finishers and for best-dressed pets. Event staff reserve the right to remove any participant, human or canine, if safety concerns arise.
