97.1 The Fan 5K
The 97.1 The Fan 5K is an annual running and walking event held at Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio. The second edition of this event takes place on the university campus, with the start and finish lines located near the Clements Center. Participants can choose between three different distances:
- 9.71k (6.03 miles) Run / Walk
- 5k (3.1 miles) Run / Walk
- 1 Mile Common Man Mile Walk
The event features the participation of local radio personalities from 97.1 The Fan who run and walk alongside the entrants. Participants receive a themed short-sleeve shirt and an official finisher medal upon completion of their event. The race experience includes free digital race photos and a post-race party featuring pizza and beverages.
Logistical arrangements include packet pick up services on the Friday prior to the event at a local sports store in Lewis Center, as well as on-site pick up at the university on the morning of the race. The event maintains a policy that allows strollers on the course. While pets are not permitted to participate, service animals trained to assist individuals with disabilities are welcome.
