Course Details
The race takes place on the Switchgrass Mountain Bike Trail. The 6.7056 km loop begins with 1.2 km (0.75 miles) on pavement before transitioning to 100% single-track trail. The trail runs beside Wilson Lake. The start and finish for each lap is the Switchgrass Mountain Bike Trail parking lot.
Event Rules
The race adheres to official Backyard Ultra rules. Key rules include:
- Each loop starts exactly one hour after the previous.
- All runners must be in the starting corral at the bell for each lap.
- A loop must be completed within the hour to be counted.
- The winner is the last person to complete a loop.
- The race is open-ended with no predefined finish time.
Participant Information
All runners receive an event shirt and a custom finisher's plaque with their completed distance. Special awards are given to the last runner standing, the "assist" runner, and the last male and female standing. Runners completing 24 hours (approximately 100 miles) receive an additional custom item. Participants may bring up to two crew members. The start/finish area allows space for personal setups. Water and a specific endurance fuel will be provided; runners must bring all other food and supplies. No electricity is available. This event is the first of three required races for the "Ultraverse Kansas Slam" series. A DNF in this race is recorded as total miles accumulated, not as a traditional DNF.
