The Enoree 100
The Enoree 100 is a 100-mile trail race that follows the Enoree Passage of the Palmetto Trail. The course launches from near Newberry, South Carolina, runs north through Sumter National Forest to the historic Cross Keys House area in Union County, and then returns south to Newberry to complete the loop.
Runners start on quiet country roads before the route moves onto singletrack through pine ridges, hardwood bottomlands, and multiple creek crossings, including Gilders Creek and Indian Creek. The trail shares sections with the Buncombe Horse Trail on the way to Brick House Campground and passes beaver ponds, lakes named Macedonia, Sedalia, and John’s Creek, and wetlands. The Cross Keys House serves as the official halfway aid station.
Aid stations are provided roughly every 6 to 8 miles. The total elevation gain is approximately 6,200 feet. The race uses time limits: participants must complete the course within 32 hours and follow the cutoffs listed in the runner’s guide; organizers note they will enforce cutoffs strictly.
February weather in South Carolina is variable and can include cold, warm, or wet conditions in a single day. Required items listed by the organizers include a downloaded course map, a fully charged cell phone, a hydration vessel for the cup-less event, and a headlamp with extra batteries.
