The Eagle Chase 5K
The Eagle Chase 5K is a community fundraising event held at Ashland Elementary School in Lexington, KY. Proceeds support field trip costs for the school's 4th and 5th grade students, including two larger end of year trips. The event offers both an in person 5K and a virtual 5K that allows participants to run anywhere while supporting the students.
The course starts and ends at Ashland Elementary and consists of three laps on a one mile loop through the neighborhood, with the final stretch returning into the school. Organizers note a continuous sidewalk along the route and encourage students to use the sidewalk if preferred. Roads will not be closed; signs, arrows, parent volunteers, and police will be stationed at key points and participants are asked to stay on the right hand side of the road.
Packet pickup (race bib and t shirt) is offered the day before and on race day at Ashland Elementary. T shirt availability is guaranteed only for those registered by a specified deadline; a limited number of extras may be available on race day. Parking at the school is limited; nearby street parking and walking from nearby homes are suggested.
Awards include overall female and male winners, overall Ashland student winners, age group winners, and door prize drawings. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
