The Drop - Norwich
The Drop is a navigation challenge that removes route information and places responsibility on each participant. Participants are taken to an undisclosed drop location and must find their own way back to the event centre at Harriets's Cafe Tearooms, 38 London Street, Norwich.
Distances offered include:
- 6 miles (non-locals only)
- 10 miles
- 15 miles
At registration participants hand over all electronic devices, watches, and navigational aids and receive a race number and a sealed emergency bag to carry for the duration. Deployment involves boarding a bus while wearing blackout blindfolds or approved alternatives; the blindfolds are removed at the drop and the timed challenge begins.
Rules specify no GPS, no unauthorised maps, and travel on foot only. Devices may record activity only if sealed inside the emergency bag. Breaking the emergency bag seal results in disqualification. Blindfolds can be replaced with blackout safety goggles if required; alternatives are available on request.
An optional live GPS tracking service is available for safety and sharing. Trackers should be placed for best signal and must be returned after the event or a replacement fee of £175 will apply. Entrants must be aged 18 or over on the event date. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
