The Drop - Norwich

The Drop - Norwich is a stripped-back navigation challenge based at Harriet's Cafe Tearooms, 38 London Street, Norwich. It is not a race with a route: there are no markers, no directions, and no reassurance. Participants are taken to an unknown location and must find their own way back to the event centre on foot.

• 15 miles (original, longest option)
• 10 miles (shorter core challenge)
• 6 miles (non-locals only; entry restricted to visitors)

At registration participants surrender electronic devices, watches, and navigational aids and receive a race number and a sealed emergency bag to carry. Deployment is by bus while wearing blackout blindfolds or approved alternatives; the blindfolds are removed at the drop location and timing begins. Once off the bus, no map, GPS, compass, or outside help is permitted. Rules include on-foot travel only and maintaining emergency bag integrity; breaking the seal or using unauthorised navigation results in disqualification.

Live GPS tracking is available as an optional feature. Trackers are said to be accurate to about 5 metres but can be affected by tall buildings and black spots; proper placement matters and all trackers must be returned after the event or a replacement fee applies.
