The Drop - Norwich
The Drop is a stripped-back navigation challenge based at Harriets's Cafe Tearooms, 38 London Street, Norwich NR2 1LD. Participants are transported, blindfolded, to an undisclosed drop location and must find their own way back to the event centre on foot.
At registration participants surrender electronic devices, watches, and navigational aids. They receive a race number and a sealed emergency bag that must remain intact for the duration of the challenge. Deployment is by bus while wearing blackout blindfolds or approved alternatives.
When blindfolds are removed the clock starts. No maps, no GPS, no compass, and no external help are permitted. Rules include on foot only, no unauthorised maps, and disqualification for breaking the emergency bag seal. Distances are measured as the crow flies so actual routes will be longer.
Available challenge distances:
- The Drop 15 miles
- The Drop 10 miles
- The Drop 6 miles for non-locals only
Live GPS tracking is offered as an optional, paid feature for safety and viewing. Trackers are accurate to about five metres, must be placed with a clear view of the sky, and must be returned at the end of the event or a replacement fee of £175 will apply.
