The Drop - Norwich
The Drop is a navigation challenge hosted from Harriets's Cafe Tearooms, 38 London Street, Norwich NR2 1LD. Participants are blindfolded or given blackout alternatives and driven to an undisclosed drop location. When the blindfolds are removed, the clock starts and each person must find their own way back to the event centre without external navigation aids.
Distances offered:
- 15 miles measured as the crow flies, the longest core option.
- 10 miles measured as the crow flies, a shorter core option.
- 6 miles measured as the crow flies, open only to non-locals.
At registration participants surrender electronic devices, watches, and navigational aids. In return they receive a race number and a sealed emergency bag that must remain intact. Rules specify no GPS, no unauthorised maps, on foot only, and disqualification for breaking the emergency bag seal. Distances are reported as the crow flies and the actual route travelled will be longer.
Live GPS tracking is available as an optional paid feature for safety and sharing. Trackers are accurate to about five metres but can be affected by tall buildings and black spots; placement in an outside pocket is recommended. All trackers must be returned at event end or a replacement fee will apply. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
