Strategy and Navigation Challenge
The Drop - London is a navigation-based event where participants must find their way back to a central hub from an unknown starting point. The event does not follow a marked route and provides no directions or markers. Participants are transported to undisclosed locations while wearing blackout blindfolds or safety goggles to ensure they have no knowledge of their surroundings or the direction of travel.
Participants are required to hand over all electronic devices, watches, and navigational aids at registration. In exchange, they receive a race number and a sealed emergency bag, which must remain intact for the duration of the challenge to avoid disqualification. The event is completed entirely on foot without the use of maps, GPS, or external assistance.
Available distances include:
- 15 miles (as the crow flies)
- 10 miles (as the crow flies)
- 6 miles (as the crow flies, restricted to non-local participants only)
The 6-mile option is specifically designed for those unfamiliar with the local geography to maintain the challenge of uncertainty. For all distances, the actual route taken will be longer than the stated straight-line distance. Optional live GPS tracking is available for safety and for friends and family to monitor progress remotely. The event centre is located at Up & Running in London, with rail and bus links situated within a 10-minute walk. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
