The Drop - Chester
The Drop - Chester is a navigation challenge scheduled for 18 October 2026 with the event centre at Up & Running Chester, 29-31 Bridge St, Chester CH1 1NW. The event places participants at an undisclosed drop location and requires them to return to the event centre without navigation aids.
Distances offered:
- 15 miles: dropped 15 miles as the crow flies from the event centre.
- 10 miles: dropped 10 miles as the crow flies from the event centre.
- 6 miles: dropped 6 miles as the crow flies, open only to non-locals.
At registration participants hand over all electronic devices, watches, and navigational aids. In exchange they receive a race number and a sealed emergency bag which must remain sealed during the challenge. Deployment is by bus while wearing blackout blindfolds or approved alternatives; participants do not know their location or orientation when dropped.
The challenge begins when blindfolds are removed and timing starts. No maps, GPS, compass, or outside help are permitted; movement must be on foot only. Breaking the emergency bag seal or using prohibited aids leads to disqualification. Live GPS tracking is used for safety; access is password protected and trackers must be returned after the event, with a replacement fee for lost units. Participants are responsible for reading the event FAQs and following the published rules and safety guidance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
