Event overview

The Drop - Chester is an organized off-road navigation event on 18 October 2026. The event is based at Up & Running Chester, 29-31 Bridge St, Chester CH1 1NW, and is organised by The Drop UK. Entry is open only to people aged 18 or over on the event date. Prices listed are £53 for the 10-mile option and £55 for the 15-mile option.

Format and rules

Participants choose between the following distances:

  • 10 miles
  • 15 miles

At registration, participants hand in all electronic devices, watches, and navigation aids and receive a race number and a sealed emergency bag. Competitors travel by bus to a secret drop-off point while wearing a blackout blindfold or blackout goggles. From the drop-off, participants must make their own way back to the event headquarters on foot. Distances are quoted as the crow flies; the actual ground distance will be longer.

No maps, GPS, compasses, or outside help are allowed. Opening the emergency bag seal leads to disqualification. Live GPS trackers are issued as part of safety procedures; trackers are typically accurate to within about 5 metres, should be placed in an outside pocket for best signal, and must be returned at the end of the event or a replacement fee of £175 will apply. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
