The Drop - York (10 May 2026)

The event is an offline navigation challenge that starts and finishes at Up & Running, 9 Colliergate, York, YO1 8BP. Entrants are taken by bus to an undisclosed drop-off location and wear a blackout blindfold or an approved alternative for that transfer. From the drop-off, participants must find their way back to the event centre without a provided route. Distances are measured as the crow flies, so the actual route may be longer. Participants may take any method of travel on foot.

  • 10 miles

Entry is open only to people aged 18 or over on 10/05/2026. Fees listed are £55 for the 15-mile option and £45 for the 10-mile option. At registration participants hand over electronic devices and navigational aids; these are sealed in an emergency bag that the participant keeps. Breaking the seal on the emergency bag leads to disqualification. Other event rules prohibit the use of GPS, unauthorised maps, and shortcuts; only maps provided by organisers may be used if any are issued.

An optional live GPS tracker is available for safety and sharing for an additional charge. Trackers are reported accurate to within about 5 metres but can be affected by tall buildings and signal gaps. All trackers must be returned after the event or a £175 replacement fee will apply. Organisers retain additional safety features not available to participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
