The Drop - Glasgow
The Drop is a navigation challenge based at Ocho, 8 Speirs Wharf, Glasgow G4 9TB. Participants are taken to an undisclosed drop location and must find their own way back to the event centre without route markers or external navigation aids.
Distances on offer:
- 10 miles dropped 10 miles as the crow flies, no maps or GPS.
- 15 miles dropped 15 miles as the crow flies, longer distance and extended decision making.
- 6 miles dropped 6 miles as the crow flies, open only to non locals to avoid local advantage.
At registration participants hand over all electronic devices, watches, and navigational aids. Each person receives a race number and a sealed emergency bag to carry for the duration. Deployment is by bus while wearing blackout blindfolds or approved alternatives; the blindfolds are removed at the drop point and the participant’s time then starts.
Core rules include no GPS unless sealed inside the emergency bag, no unauthorised maps, travel on foot only, and disqualification if the emergency bag seal is broken. Distances are measured as the crow flies so actual routes will be longer.
Live GPS tracking is offered as an optional safety feature; trackers must be returned after the event or a replacement fee will apply. Entry prices range from £35 to £58. Participants must be aged 18 or over. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
