The Drop - Glasgow is an outdoor navigation event organised by The Drop UK at Ocho, 8 Speirs Wharf, Glasgow G4 9TB on 16 August 2026. At registration participants hand over electronic devices and navigational aids, which are sealed in an emergency bag. Competitors board a bus, wear a blackout blindfold or an approved alternative, and are driven to an undisclosed drop-off location. From that point each person or team must find their own way back to the event centre. Distances are measured as the crow flies and the actual route may be longer.
No unauthorised maps, GPS, compass, or outside help are allowed. Breaking the seal on the emergency bag leads to disqualification. Blindfolds can be replaced with blackout safety goggles when needed.
Tracking and logistics
Live GPS tracking is optional and not included in the entry fee; access is shared by password. Trackers are stated to be accurate within 5 metres but can be affected by tall buildings and signal gaps. All trackers must be returned after the event or a £175 replacement fee applies. Parking is available in the town centre; the nearest railway station is about a 10-minute walk and the bus station about 5 minutes from the event HQ.
