The Drop - Glasgow
The Drop is a navigation challenge based at Ocho, 8 Speirs Wharf, Glasgow G4 9TB. Participants are blindfolded for deployment and transported to an unknown drop location. When the blindfolds are removed, each participant must find their own way back to the event centre without maps or GPS.
At registration participants hand over electronic devices, watches, and navigational aids. In return they receive a race number and a sealed emergency bag that must be carried for the duration of the event. Distances are measured as the crow flies, so actual travel will be longer than the listed distance.
Available distances:
- 15 Miles: Dropped 15 miles as the crow flies, longest option.
- 10 Miles: Dropped 10 miles as the crow flies, shorter core challenge.
- 6 Miles: Dropped 6 miles as the crow flies, open only to non-locals.
Rules include no GPS unless devices are sealed inside the emergency bag, no unauthorised maps, on foot only, and breaking the emergency bag seal results in disqualification. The Drop 6 is restricted to participants without strong local route knowledge and entries may be checked.
An optional live GPS tracker is available for safety and sharing. Trackers must be returned at the end or a replacement fee of £175 will apply. Parking is available in the town centre and the nearest rail and bus links are within walking distance of the event HQ. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
