The Drop - Glasgow
The Drop - Glasgow is an outdoor navigation event organised by The Drop UK at Ocho, 8 Speirs Wharf, Glasgow G4 9TB. The event offers two measured distances:
- 10 miles
- 15 miles
Format and rules
Participants board a bus and are transported to an undisclosed drop-off location. Electronic devices, watches and navigational aids are sealed in an emergency bag at registration and must not be used during the event. Blindfolds or blackout safety goggles are used before the drop if required. Distances are measured "as the crow flies"; the actual route taken may be longer. Rules include no GPS use, no unauthorised maps, no shortcuts, and maintaining the seal on the emergency bag; breaking the seal results in disqualification. Participants must complete the return to the event centre on foot.
Entry, age and tracking
Entry prices are listed at £48 for the 10-mile option and £58 for the 15-mile option. Entrants must be aged 18 or over on the event date. Live GPS tracking is offered as an optional, paid feature; trackers are accurate to about 5 metres but can be affected by buildings and signal black spots. Trackers should be placed in an outside pocket for best performance and must be returned after the event or a £175 replacement fee will apply.
