The Drop - Glasgow
The Drop is a stripped-back navigation challenge where participants are taken to an unknown location and must find their own way back to the event centre at Ocho, 8 Speirs Wharf, Glasgow G4 9TB. The event is scheduled for 16 August 2026. There are no markers, no route, and no navigation aids provided.
Distances offered include:
- 10 Miles - dropped 10 miles as the crow flies
- 15 Miles - dropped 15 miles as the crow flies
- 6 Miles (Non-locals only) - dropped 6 miles as the crow flies; local participants may be moved to other options
At registration participants hand over all electronic devices, watches, and navigational aids. In return they receive a race number and a sealed emergency bag that must remain intact. Deployment is by bus while wearing blackout blindfolds or approved alternatives; participants do not know their location or orientation until the blindfolds are removed. Time begins when blindfolds come off.
Rules specify no GPS, no unauthorised maps, on foot only, and disqualification for breaking the emergency bag seal. Distances are measured as the crow flies and actual routes will be longer. An optional live GPS tracking system is available for safety; trackers must be returned or a replacement fee of £175 will apply.
Public transport links and town centre parking are noted near the event HQ. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
