Event details
The Drogo 10 is a fell race held at Castle Drogo, Drewsteignton, Exeter (EX6 6PB). The course is designated BM with a distance of 10 miles (16 km) and total climb of 1760 ft (535 m). The event is licensed (No. 2025-9639) and held under Fell Runners Association (FRA) rules and principles, including self-sufficiency and self-navigation. Entry is limited to a maximum of 550 runners. The minimum age is 18. Entries are non-refundable and non-deferrable, but transfers are permitted using the event substitute feature. Half of the entry fee will be donated to the National Trust for the upkeep of the Castle Drogo estate.
Course and logistics
The route starts and finishes on the main driveway to the castle, about 300 m from the visitor centre. The multi-terrain course includes woods, steep descents, river-side tracks, and a sustained half-mile ascent known as Hunters’ Path. Water is provided at Fingle Bridge (around 3.5 and 8.5 miles) and at the finish; the event is otherwise cupless and runners must carry their own hydration. Signage will mark significant junctions and National Trust rangers will be stationed at strategic points. Parking uses the National Trust car parks at standard charges; parking is limited and car sharing is requested. Runners should expect muddy and wet conditions and bring suitable multi-terrain footwear. No dogs, headphones, or navigational aids are allowed.
