The Dream Mile (10K 5K 1 Mile)
The Dream Mile is a community running event at Fred G. Bond Metro Park in Cary, NC on August 23, 2026. The event offers three in-person race distances on a single course layout that uses the park loop and nearby greenway.
Distances
- 10K repeated loop of the 5K course
- 5K start near Sertoma Amphitheater toward White Oak Creek Greenway
- 1 Mile open to ages 5 and up with a parent or guardian required for registered children under 10
Registration opens June 1, 2026. Registration closes August 22, 2026 for the 5K and 10K and August 23, 2026 for the 1 Mile. Entry fees are listed per distance at registration.
Packet pickup for 5K and 10K participants is handled at Fred G. Bond Metro Park near the Sertoma Amphitheater on the day before the race. T shirts and finishers medals are provided for 5K and 10K registrants while supplies last; medals are provided for 1 Mile finishers. In-person awards cover multiple categories.
On event day there are post race snacks and an award ceremony at the amphitheater. A flash mob warm up will precede the start and a physical therapy booth will be available for 5K and 10K participants. Parking is first come, first served at park lots and fields. The event is scheduled as rain or shine and no pets or strollers are allowed on the race routes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
