The Dorchester Sprint Triathlon
The Dorchester Sprint Triathlon is a sprint-distance event held in Dorchester, organised by Bustinskin Triathlon Club and based at 1610 Sports Centre, Coburg Road. The event combines a pool swim, a road bike section and a short run around Poundbury.
Race legs:
- Swim: 300 m pool swim, 12 lengths, individual time-trial starts.
- Bike: 21 km (approx.) on rolling roads with a climb to Hardy's Monument.
- Run: 5 km (approx.) two laps around the Great Field at Poundbury.
The swim uses calm, controlled pool starts with athletes allocated start times based on predicted swim speed. The bike route passes classic Dorset scenery and includes varied gradients. The run is a flat, spectator-friendly multi-lap course on the Great Field.
Registration is handled on the day and entries are limited. Athletes must enter an accurate swim time in HH:MM:SS format when registering to ensure correct start order. Final route details and safety information are provided in the official race brief; all athletes are required to read the race brief before the event.
The event describes itself as compact with straightforward logistics and a managed race environment supported by marshals and volunteers along the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
