The Dorchester Sprint Triathlon
The Dorchester Sprint Triathlon is a compact sprint event held in Dorset at the 1610 Sports Centre, Dorchester DT1 2HR. The race combines a pool swim, a short road bike route with local views, and a two lap run around the Great Field at Poundbury. The organiser positions the event as straightforward and efficiently managed, suitable both for experienced athletes and for those attempting a first triathlon.
Event format and distances:
- Swim: 300m pool swim, 12 lengths, individual time trial starts.
- Bike: 21 km approximately, rolling roads with scenic views including Hardy's Monument.
- Run: 5 km approximately, two laps around the Great Field, flat and spectator friendly.
Swim starts use allocated times based on predicted swim speed. Athletes must enter an accurate swim time in HH:MM:SS format when registering to ensure correct start order. Registration is conducted on the day and competitors receive required race items at registration. Athletes must read the official Race Brief before race day. Organisers recommend that athletes review the bike and run routes in advance. Entries are limited and may sell out before the closing date. Refund protection insurance is recommended in case injury or illness prevents participation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
