Castle Alpine Trail Race
The Castle Alpine Trail Race takes place on September 19, 2026 at Castle Mountain Resort, Pincher Creek No. 9, Alberta. The event offers a 28K distance available for solo runners or relay teams of two to three, with a field limit of 200 racers.
The course covers two mountain summits and an alpine valley. Each stage starts and finishes at the resort staging area, with a central transition area for team exchanges and gear. The three race legs are run with specific directions: Leg 1 clockwise, Leg 2 counterclockwise, and Leg 3 clockwise.
Checkpoints are located throughout each stage. The transition area is the central hub and the only place where racers may cache gear or leave drop bags if they do not have a support crew. Checkpoints are staffed and provide drinking water and basic snack foods. Support crews may station themselves near the transition area.
The host site plans evening entertainment including live music and casual activities. Castle Mountain Resort lists a variety of accommodations on site and nearby, such as private rooms, a hostel, and bed and breakfasts. September weather can include a chance of snow, strong winds at the summit, or warm conditions, and the area is noted for local flora and wildlife viewing.
