About the race
Castle Alpine Trail Race is a fall mountain trail race at Castle Mountain Resort, Alberta. The 28-kilometer event offers solo and relay formats (two to three teammates) with up to 200 entrants. The course covers two mountain summits and an alpine valley, featuring wide-open vistas, rugged single-track, off-trail sections, and substantial climbing.
It unfolds in three stages starting and ending at the resort; runners pass through a central transition area for quick handoffs and gear caching. The atmosphere blends rugged endurance with mountain-resort vibes, including live music, a post-race dinner, and awards. Weather can swing toward snow or heat; accommodations are nearby, and support crews are allowed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
