Castle Alpine Trail Ultra
Castle Alpine Trail Ultra takes place at Castle Mountain Resort in Pincher Creek No. 9, Alberta. The 2027 edition introduces a new Obscura format and offers multiple ways to participate, from single-stage entries to multi-stage and relay options.
The course features wide-open vistas, rugged single track, off-trail sections, and sustained climbing. The route visits two mountain summits and an alpine valley. Each stage starts and ends at Castle Mountain Resort, allowing transitions and equipment staging at the resort. Leg 1 runs clockwise, Leg 2 runs counterclockwise, and Leg 3 runs clockwise.
Format and entry options:
- 9 km to over 160 km as part of Unlimited Distances within a 24-hour cutoff.
- Half Marathon available as the first stage entered alone.
- 28 km relay with teams, and a six-person relay option following the original six-stage format.
Castle Mountain Resort lists a range of accommodations including private rooms, a hostel, and bed and breakfasts. September conditions may vary; the event notes a chance of snow, strong winds at higher elevations, or warm weather, so participants should prepare for changing conditions.
