The Country Mile 48 Hour - Run/Walk
This event is a 48 hour run and walk weekend held April 2–4 at Beechwood Family Farm, 204 Bates Bridge Rd, Marietta, SC 29661. Participants complete laps on a looped course and may accumulate distance over the timed 48 hour window.
The course is a 4.167 mile loop with about 25 ft elevation gain per loop. Surface is approximately 95% wide dirt paths with some grass and light gravel. Directional arrows mark turns. Chip timing records each lap with a bib and a neoprene ankle strap; lap counts appear on a display monitor and the chip is returned at packet pickup.
Suggested lap goals include:
- 6 laps = 25 miles
- 8 laps = 50k
- 12 laps = 50 miles
- 15 laps = 100k
- 18 laps = 75 miles
- 24 laps = 100 miles
- 30 laps = 125 miles
Awards include buckles for 100 mile finishers and finisher medals for other distances. Additional items listed are a 100 mile lapel pin, a 500 mile strawberry buckle, and a 1000 mile sunflower buckle. Cumulative mileage awards are recorded; participants are asked to confirm totals via a shared post-event sheet.
Camping is included for participants from April 1 through April 4. Tent and car camping are free; RV camping is limited to the first 40 spots at a $40 fee. The site is dry camping with water available at the U-Pick stand. Aid station offerings include snacks and a variety of drinks; overnight aid support is limited between 10pm and 6am. The event is cup-less so participants should bring their own drink container. Meal service and an on-site beer truck are available, and meal and beer tickets can be purchased during registration.
A participant volunteer program offers a 25% registration discount when a runner provides a volunteer to cover a three-hour shift; discounts may be applied or refunded once the volunteer is confirmed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
