The Compassion 5K

The Compassion 5K is a community race taking place in Wilmington, Delaware. Presented by Griswold Home Care, the event serves to raise awareness for care options for people and animals while supporting charitable causes in New Castle County. The race is held at Rockford Park, with the starting point located near the Lookout Drive clock tower.

The event structure includes the following distance:

  • 5 km

The race is open to runners and walkers. Participants will follow a route through the park area, and a course map is available for directional purposes. The event uses electronic timing, with overall and masters rankings determined by gun time, while individual age group rankings are based on chip time.

Registered participants receive a race T-shirt and post-race snacks. Medals are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in several age categories, ranging from 9 and under to 70 and over. There are also awards for the overall male and female winners, as well as the male and female masters winners.

Proceeds from the event benefit the Faithful Friends Animal Society. This organization provides food, care, and housing for animals in need. Bib pick-up and on-site registration are available at the park on the morning of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
