The Clayton Shorthouse Memorial Triathlon
The Clayton Shorthouse Memorial Triathlon takes place at Ebbw Vale Sports Centre in Blaenau Gwent on 23 August 2026. The event's permit is listed as in progress. Expected competitor numbers are shown as 54.
The main race uses a pool swim of 400 m (16 pool lengths), a 10 km bike ride on reasonably flat open roads on tarmac, and a 2.5 km run that includes a gentle incline on tarmac. The transition area is listed as about 20 m across with a mixture of surfaces. Organisers note the course is supported by numerous volunteers.
Multiple race categories are offered, including relay, a super sprint, and several youth TriStar races:
- Relay and Super Sprint: 400 m swim, 10 km bike, 2.5 km run.
- TriStar 1: 150 m swim, 1.2 km run.
- TriStar 2: 200 m swim, 1.8 km run.
- TriStar 3: 300 m swim, 2.4 km run.
- TriStar Start: 50 m swim, 600 m run.
