The Cerne Giant
This challenge event offers a choice of either a 20 or a 30 mile route to be completed within 11 hours. It starts at Cerne Abbas Village Hall and follows downland and river valleys in Dorset, passing through Alton Pancras, Lyscombe Chapel, the Dorsetshire Gap, Buckland Newton and other local points of interest. The 30 mile route additionally passes Bingham's Melcombe and Sydling St Nicholas.

Route descriptions and GPX files will be made available about ten days before the event. The 30 mile course has three checkpoints; the 20 mile course has two. Checkpoints will provide drinks and light snacks. A light vegetarian meal will be provided at the finish; participants with other special dietary requirements should plan to carry their own food and drink. Entrants should bring their own mug as disposable cups are not used at checkpoints.
Entries open on 1 November 2026 and close on 7 March 2027. Entries are limited to 180, are not transferable and will not be accepted on the day. Minimum age is 16 or older relative to the event date. Entry fees are listed as LDWA member £15 and non member £25.
Event parking is approximately 600 metres from the start and is limited; marshals will provide parking advice. Dogs are not permitted. All finishers receive a certificate. The event is organised by LDWA Dorset. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
