The Brooklynite Fall 10K and 5K
The event is held at American Veterans Memorial Pier in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, and offers two distances:
- 5K one loop along the shore
- 10K two loops along the shore
The course runs along the waterfront with designated u-turn points. Approximate u-turn distances cited are near 1.55 miles for the 5K and about 1.59 miles for the first u-turn on the 10K. Mile markers are placed for every mile and timing mats record each loop for live split times.
Participants receive a bib with an attached timing chip. Baggage check is available on request and is limited; bibs include a tear-off tag used to retrieve items from the secure personal items area. Water and power gels are provided on course at self-serve tables; bottled water is sealed. Runners are advised to carry personal water if desired.
Race day packet pick-up is available shortly before the race; participants must bring photo identification. The event uses a live tracking and auditory guidance app that requires a phone to run with the participant and allows remote tracking by friends and family.
Amenities include finisher medals and technical t-shirts for all finishers, postrace food offerings, live chip timing, live streaming, and an awards ceremony for top three overall male and female finishers followed by age group awards. Awards are not mailed. Parking is available on Shore Parkway. The park path has separate cyclist and pedestrian lanes and headphones are not allowed.
