The Broken Arrow Skyrace - June 18 to 21, 2026
The Broken Arrow Skyrace is a four-day mountain running event at Palisades Tahoe, Lake Tahoe, CA. The program offers multiple race formats that use high-alpine terrain mostly above the tree line, with technical sections that include off-trail scrambling, steep slabs, scree, potential snow slopes, exposure, hand lines, and ladders. The Iron Face Challenge also includes a protected via ferrata section and a suspension bridge.
The event includes both single-day distances and multi-day combinations. Several distances require minimum ages or approvals; some fields are limited in size. Cash prize money is allocated to the Ascent, 23k, and 46k distances, with distribution to top finishers and additional age-group awards across distances. A nonbinary podium and prize policy is in place for 2026.
A children’s race is offered for ages 10 and under, held on service roads and a short climb, covering slightly less than one kilometer; participants receive medals and swag, it is untimed, and there are no podium prizes. Online registration closes June 10, 2026; the event commonly uses a waitlist with rolling invites. Registration is non-transferable; limited partial-credit and deferral policies apply in specified circumstances.
