Event

The Broken Arrow Skyrace is a multi-day mountain running event held at Palisades Tahoe near Lake Tahoe, CA from June 18-21, 2026. The event takes place mostly above the tree line and features technical alpine terrain with steep rock slabs, scree, potential snow slopes, exposed ridgelines, hand lines, and ladder sections. On-site registration is available during the race weekend. Online registration closes June 10, 2026.

Races and distances

  • 46K - 46 km, limited to 800 runners, price $199, cutoff 12 hours.
  • 23K - 23 km, price $150, cutoff 7 hours, part of the World Mountain Running Association World Cup.
  • 18K - 18 km, price $130, ~3,800 ft climbing over ~11 miles, age 18+ required.
  • Ascent (Vertical K) - short steep ascent, 3,100 ft gain over ~3 miles, limited to 500, price $105.
  • 11K - 11 km, ~569 m (1,840 ft) gain, limited to 600, price $99, age 16+ required.
  • Iron Face Challenge - 5.75 miles, ~2,000 ft climb, via ferrata section, limited to 100, price $275.
  • Triple Crown - includes Ascent, 46K, and 23K; limited to 200, price $445.
  • Iron Crown - includes Iron Face Challenge, 23K, 46K; limited to 25, price $575.
  • Kids Run - for ages 10 and under, just under 1 km, $20, not timed, medals and swag provided.
  • Trail Futures NTN - youth event for ages 10-18; details to be finalized for 2026.

Entry rules and awards

Age minimums and parent-accompaniment rules apply for some distances. The Iron Face requires participants to weigh at least 88 pounds and be 18 or older. Several distances have field limits and entry fees. Cash prize pools totaling $150,000 are allocated to the Ascent, 23K, and 46K with prize distributions for top finishers; other distances do not offer cash prizes. Age-group and nonbinary awards are also part of the event. Partial credits and withdrawal policies are specified for select distances.
