About the race
The Braden James 5K Rainbow Run/Walk is scheduled for October 17, 2026 at the Trail at Bluemont Park in Arlington, VA. The event is held rain or shine and includes both an in-person and a virtual option. Activities and services on site include bib and shirt pickup at the Bluemont Picnic Pavilion, refreshments, and same-day result services.

Parking is available at the South Bluemont Parking Area but is not guaranteed and operates on a first come, first serve basis. Attendees are asked to use designated parking areas and avoid parking on grass or blocking bike trails and residential driveways. Upon arrival participants walk across the adjacent bridge to the picnic pavilion to collect bibs and shirts.
On-site amenities listed for the event include water, hot chocolate, coffee, cupcakes and donuts, live text and email results, free finish line photos, and personalized bibs for those registered three weeks in advance. Bib pickup is available in person starting one hour before the event; virtual bibs are mailed the Monday prior to the event.
Awards include top male and female overall in the 5K and electronic gift card awards for the top individual fundraiser and top fundraising team. The event benefits the Braden James Fund, which supports families affected by pediatric brain cancer and focuses on PLAY, ADVOCATE, and CURE through local programs, advocacy work, and research funding.
