Big Green Scunthorpe 10k
The Big Green Scunthorpe 10k is a UKA licensed road race held on 16 May 2027 at Central Park, Scunthorpe. The event is limited to 1200 entrants and covers a 10 km distance. Entry fees are listed at £25 to £27 and an optional recycled event T shirt is available for £11.
The course is described as spectator friendly with views of the start, around 3 km, 7 km and the finish all within a short walking distance of each other. The event uses chip timing, operates on fully closed roads, and includes an event village in the park. Finish-line provisions include a complimentary mocktail, a finish cookie (Triple Brownie Batter), and a pack of wildflower seeds for every runner. There will be photographers and drone footage on the day and an on-site runners bar near the 7 km point.
The organisers emphasise a set of green measures and local partnerships. Examples from previous years include wooden or recycled medals and T shirts, water refill stations and reusable or biodegradable cups to reduce plastic bottles, a new wildflower meadow in the park, secure cycle storage and a bag drop, and use of local suppliers. Traffic management for the route is provided by a local team and the event supports local charities and community partners. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
