The American Mile - Longport
The American Mile is scheduled for July 4, 2026 in Longport, New Jersey and is sponsored by the Longport Volunteer Fire Department. The event features a one mile, point-to-point running course that begins at 11th Avenue and Atlantic Avenue at the south end of Longport and runs north on Atlantic Avenue to a finish at Pelham Avenue. A non-running shirt-only registration option is also offered.
Online registration opens March 1, 2026. Early online registration through June 20, 2026 is listed at $20 with a reduced price for participants 10 and under. Online registration is available at a higher fee through July 3, 2026; youth pricing applies for ages 10 and under. Those who want only a race T-shirt must register by June 20, 2026. Race day registration and packet, bib, and shirt pickup are handled at the Longport Fire House at 2305 Atlantic Avenue.
Awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers and to the top three finishers in multiple age groups, including 11-14, 15-19, 20-24 and continuing in five-year increments up to 70 plus. A post-race awards ceremony is held at the Longport Fire House where hot dogs and drinks are provided to participants. Fireworks are noted for nearby Margate on July 4.
