About the race
The Amazons Australia is an all women adventure race held in Mission Beach, Cassowary Coast, in Tropical North Queensland. The event is part of the Adventure Racing World Series Oceania region and is run as a stage race with racing over several days. The 2027 edition is listed for 1 to 4 July with dates to be confirmed. Racing includes the main adventure racing disciplines of trekking, mountain biking and paddling, with navigation using map and compass required on foot, bike and water.
There will be no night racing, but teams must carry mandatory safety equipment that will be checked at registration and may be inspected during the event. Teams are composed of two athletes. Minimum age is 15 with an adult and 18 for unaccompanied competitors. Organisers provide kayaks with paddles and personal flotation devices, and teams may bring their own paddles and PFDs.
Mountain bikes must be provided by competitors and e bikes are not permitted. Teams may receive two small gear drop bags per day and will be able to access water at many transition areas and other locations on course. The event includes information on wildlife and wilderness awareness relevant to the Cassowary Coast, and follows Adventure Racing World Series rules and mandatory equipment lists.
