Ona Mission Multisport Adventure, Mission Beach and Dunk Island, Queensland
Ona Mission is a multisport endurance event held in September 2026 in the Mission Beach and Dunk Island area. The event combines paddling, trail running, and mountain biking across island and mainland terrain, and offers separate short and long course options for individuals and relay teams. Course routing uses island rainforest trails, palm-lined beaches, and a mountain bike loop that includes the national park Musgravea Track.
Participants compete in five sequential stages: paddle to Dunk Island, a run on island trails, a paddle back to the mainland, a mountain bike loop, and a final beach and trail run. Entry categories include individuals and teams, with junior categories restricted to the short course. Minimum ages: 13 years for short course participation and 18 years for long course participation. E-bikes may be entered but are non-competitive for event placings.
Mandatory equipment requirements are specified for safety and self-sufficiency. Paddlers must use appropriate watercraft and a Type 1 or Type 2 personal flotation device (no inflatable PFDs); a dry bag for running shoes is required. Riders must use an Australian standards approved cycling helmet. All participants must carry water and nutrition and wear race identification. Event officials may apply cut-offs and record DNF where appropriate; the event director’s decisions are final. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
