Beachruns at Mission Beach
Beachruns takes place on the hard-packed sand of Mission Beach in Tropical North Queensland, with views of palm trees and nearby islands. The event uses a beach course that runs along the greater Mission Beach corridor, covering South Mission Beach, Wongaling Beach and Mission Beach, with race activities centred at the Vaka Hut (Mission Beach Outrigger Canoe Club) on the beach at Casuarina Park.
Distances offered include:
- 21 km half marathon along the greater Mission Beach length
- 10 km
- 5 km
- 1 km children’s fun run for 5 to 12 year-olds, run or walk with parental supervision
- 12 km team relay completed as four 3 km legs, teams of 2 to 4 runners (minimum age applies)
Entry is by online registration and there are entry fees and age minimums for each distance. Team-relay entries use a captain code system so team members register under a single team code. Prize categories include overall first to third male and female for each distance and winning male, female and mixed relay teams; relay winners receive perpetual trophies. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase near the start and finish areas.
Event safety measures include staying home if unwell, maintaining physical distancing where possible and using hand sanitiser. Major event sponsors include Mackays Bananas and several local businesses. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
