That's Lyth
This is a winter walk and run that starts at Abbot Hall Social Centre in Kendal and follows a circular route around the Lyth Valley. The course goes via Cunswick Fell, Whitbarrow Scar and Scout Scar and is described as a scenic route.
The route distance is 23 miles with approximately 3,200 ft of ascent. There is a cut off at the Levens checkpoint. Entrants must follow the route, check in at all checkpoints, and report to the finish; anyone retiring must do so at a checkpoint. Marshals are authorised to short route or retire participants who fail to comply with event rules or who are judged unfit to continue.
Organiser rules require each entrant to carry or wear, as appropriate, a route description, maps (OS Outdoor Leisure 7 English Lakes SE or OS 1:50,000 Sheet 97), compass, whistle, survival bag, first aid kit, emergency food and drink, spare warm clothing, waterproof and windproof upper clothing and trousers, and footwear suitable for rough walking in winter conditions. Participants are asked to bring a mug.
Dogs are welcome if well behaved and kept under close control by their owner, kept on a lead near livestock, and with owner liability insurance in place where required.
Entries initially opened to LDWA members, with non-members admitted from 1 December 2026. The event became full and new entries are being placed on a waiting list. Entry fees differ for LDWA members and non-members. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
