About the race
The Thanksgiving Day Race to Be Thankful is a community 5K run/walk held on Thursday, November 26, 2026 at the Gatewood Club in Greenwood, South Carolina. The event is organized by the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection of Greenwood and is in its 11th year. The course is a paved, rolling loop through the Gatewood subdivision, passing ponds and woods with minimal traffic. The event is offered as a run/walk and includes a youth policy that allows kids under 10 to run free.
Available race amenities include a post-race selection of breakfast items, including homemade pumpkin bread, hot coffee and hot chocolate. Participants may choose an optional race t-shirt if they register by Thursday, November 5. Registration opens December 1, 2025 and closes November 23, 2026; the listed registration fee is $25. Race day registration is available at the start.
Packet pickup is scheduled for Wednesday, November 25 at The Church of the Resurrection, 700 Main St S, Greenwood. Awards are given to overall male and female winners, overall masters male and female winners, and age-group winners in 10-year increments. All profits from the event are donated to local Greenwood charities, including Greenwood Food Bank, Greenwood Soup Kitchen, United Ministries, Community Initiatives and Pathway House.
