Race the Helix - Greenwood
Race the Helix takes place on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at the Greenwood Genetic Center in Greenwood, SC. The event was created to raise awareness of genetic disorders and to fund genetic research; proceeds benefit the Greenwood Genetic Center Foundation.
Available event options include:
- 5K run or walk with chip timing
- 1-mile course for walkers, runners, strollers, and wheelchairs
- Virtual 5K option
The 5K course can accommodate strollers and wheelchairs. Pre-packaged snacks and water will be provided. Check-in and onsite registration are available on race day morning. Preordered t-shirts and 5K race bibs may be picked up at the race on race day, and early pickup is available at the Greenwood Genetic Center on Friday, September 18.
Registration opens March 30, 2026 and closes September 19, 2026. Published registration fees are $25 for the Race the Helix 5K, $0 for the Walk the Helix 1-mile, and $25 for the Virtual 5K. Online t-shirt sales close September 3; a very limited number of t-shirts will be available for purchase on race day on a first come, first served basis.
Awards include 1st place overall male and female and 1st place male and female in each age group: 12 and under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 plus. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
