Thanksgiving Day 5K - Simi Valley (Santa Clarita)
This event is listed as the 5th annual Thanksgiving Day 5K held along the Santa Clarita bike path with start and finish at Heritage Park, 24155 Newhall Ranch Rd., Santa Clarita, CA 91355. The course is all flat, 100 percent bike path on paved surfaces with no auto traffic on course.
The race is described as walker friendly and also suitable for runners seeking a personal record on a flat, paved bike path. Packet pickup is available. A virtual runner option is offered.
All finishers receive a finisher medal, a premium sublimated shirt, a premium runner's hat with the event logo, and a reusable tote bag. Post race refreshments are provided. Awards include top 3 overall men and women in each race, top 3 in each age group for all distances, and top 3 teams in the team competition.
The event does not use disposable cups at water stations. Organizers cite safety and environmental reasons and use a foot pedal dispensing unit that allows hands free water at 10 ounces per second.
