Thanksgiving Day 5k Santa Clarita
The Thanksgiving Day 5k Santa Clarita is the fifth annual 5k held along the Santa Clarita bike path, with start and finish at Heritage Park, 24155 Newhall Ranch Rd., Santa Clarita, CA 91355. The course is all flat and takes place entirely on paved bike path, with no auto traffic to worry about.
The event is described as walker friendly and suitable for Weekend Warriors and middle of the pack runners seeking a personal record on a flat, paved route. All runners receive a finisher medal, a premium sublimated shirt, a premium runner's hat with the event logo, and a reusable tote bag. Post race refreshments are provided.
Awards are presented for the top three overall male and female finishers in each race, top three in each age group male and female across all distances, and top three teams in the team competition. Race day results and photos are made available after the event.
This event does not use disposable cups at water stations. Organizers cite runner and volunteer safety, reduced litter, and environmental reasons. Water is dispensed via a foot pedal unit that allows hands free dispensing at about 10 ounces per second. A reusable cup may be purchased for three dollars at packet pickup or race day check in.
