Texas Bud Heat Wave
The Texas Bud Heat Wave is a July 4, 2026 running event in Mont Belvieu, Texas. The start and finish are located at Wismer Distributing, 13827 I-10 East Frontage Road, Mont Belvieu TX 77523 (GPS 29.829033, -94.840950). The event offers two race distances:
- 5 Mile run
- 5K run
Organizers provide detailed weather contingency plans. The race will not be canceled for rain alone unless visibility becomes unsafe. Lightning within six miles triggers repeated 30 minute postponements. A tornado warning issued before or during the event will result in cancellation. If the race is stopped while in progress for storms or tornado warnings, police, course support, and medical personnel will attempt to alert and assist participants, and runners are advised to seek immediate shelter if rescue is not available. Organizers may shorten any race course if required by agreements with the Texas Department of Transportation or local authorities.
Proceeds benefit the Baytown Special Rodeo Association, whose mission is to provide an annual western themed day of activities and entertainment for mentally and/or physically challenged children and their families and to foster a sense of community and self-worth. The Texas Bud Heat Wave continues the tradition of the earlier Baytown Bud Heat Wave and is presented as a Running Alliance Sport event.
