Texas Bud Heat Wave

Proceeds from the event go to the Baytown Special Rodeo Association. That organization provides an annual, western themed day of activities and entertainment for mentally and/or physically challenged children and their families and aims to help each child feel valued and included.
Weather and safety procedures are specified in advance. Rain alone will not cancel the event unless visibility is lost and conditions become unsafe. Lightning during race morning or the event will trigger a 30 minute postponement every time lightning is spotted and thunder is heard within six miles. A tornado warning issued before or during the event will result in cancellation. If the race is canceled while in progress due to storms or tornado warnings, police, SAG, and medical personnel will work to alert and assist participants; individuals on course should seek shelter in open stores, buildings, garages, homes, or other protected locations if help is not immediately available. The organizer reserves the right to shorten race distances to comply with agreements with the Texas Department of Transportation and local municipalities.
