Event details
The 15th Annual San Jacinto Texas Independence Fun Run takes place on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the San Jacinto Museum and Battlefield, 1 Monument Circle, La Porte, TX 77571. Participants can choose from these events:
- 10K run
- 5K run
- 5K walk
- 1K Kids Run
- Virtual Run/Walk
The certified 10K and 5K courses will be chip-timed. The top three male and female finishers in each age category will be recognized after the race. Age categories are: 19 & under, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60–69, and 70+.
Registration and logistics
Advance registration pricing applies before January 31, 2026; higher fees apply from February 1 through race day. The event offers packet pick-up at the Monument (inside the Monument entrance facing the reflection pool) and packet shipping; standard shipping is included in the registration fee and packets are mailed during the week leading up to March 7. Event-day packet pick-up is available.
All ages may participate in the 5K and 10K; children 2 and under may accompany a family member free of charge. Strollers and walkers are allowed, with a request that they start in the back of the corral. The 1K Kids Run is limited to children 12 and under; one parent or guardian may escort a child and strollers are permitted, with older children placed toward the front and strollers toward the back. Roads leading into the San Jacinto Battleground will be closed before the race; late arrivals will be directed to parking outside the race zone and will need to walk to the event area.
