About the race
The San Jacinto Texas Independence Fun Run is held at the San Jacinto Museum and Battlefield in La Porte, Texas, at 1 Monument Circle. The event offers in-person and virtual options and uses the historic battlefield grounds for its courses.
Participants may choose from these distances:
- 10K run
- 5K run
- 5K walk
- 1K Kids Run
- Virtual Run Walk
The 10K and 5K courses are certified and will be chip timed. Finishers are recognized by the top three male and female placings in each age category. Age categories are 19 and under, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, and 70 plus.
Registration opens on October 1, 2026. Closing dates vary by event with the 10K closing January 30, 2027 and the other in-person and virtual events closing January 31, 2027.
Packet pick up is located inside the Monument using the entrance facing the reflection pool. In person packet pick up is scheduled for March 5 and March 6 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Packet shipping is offered and standard shipping is included when selected; packets will be mailed during the week before the event and a bib will be available at packet pick up if mailed packets do not arrive.
For safety, the main roads into the San Jacinto Battleground close at 7:20 a.m. Vehicles arriving after that time will be directed to designated parking outside the race zone and must walk into the event area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
