Tears and Gears 2026
Tears and Gears is a mountain duathlon held in Fernie, British Columbia. The event takes place at the Elk Valley Nordic Centre and utilizes the local trail network for both trail running and mountain biking. Participation is limited to 200 racers.
The event offers different course lengths and categories based on age and format:
- Classic Solo (11 km run and 16 km bike)
- Classic Team (11 km run and 16 km bike)
- Youth Solo (5 km run and 5 km bike)
- Youth Team (5 km run and 5 km bike)
The Classic categories are open to participants aged 12 and older, while the Youth race is designed for ages 7 to 14. Participants can enter as soloists to complete both segments or as a two person team. The event structure requires that both the run and bike portions are completed; there is no option to perform only one discipline without a teammate.
Registration includes branded merchandise, access to a fully stocked aid station, and eligibility for podium and draw prizes. A post-race BBQ is available by donation. All funds raised through the event benefit the Abi Moore Scholarship Fund. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
