Tears and Gears 2026
The Tears and Gears event is a mountain duathlon held in Fernie, British Columbia. The 2026 edition takes place on Saturday, August 29 and supports the Abi Moore Scholarship Fund.
The event, first created in 2010, combines trail running and mountain biking. The start and finish location is the Elk Valley Nordic Centre. Participant numbers are limited to 200.
The distances for the main Classic race are an 11 km trail run followed by a 16 km mountain bike course. A Youth race offers distances of 5 km running and 5 km biking.
Registration is available for solo participants or two-person teams across various categories. It is not possible to participate in only one of the two disciplines. The entry fee is $115 for the Classic race and $55 for the Youth race. Registration closes on August 15, 2026.
The entry fee includes branded swag, a post-race BBQ (by donation), beer, an aid station, as well as draw prizes and podium prizes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
