Tears and Gears 2026 : Fernie, British Columbia
Tears and Gears is a mountain duathlon combining trail running and mountain biking, with start and finish at the Elk Valley Nordic Centre in Fernie. The event returns after a hiatus and raises funds for the Abi Moore Scholarship Fund.
Two main course options are listed:
- Classic: 11 km run, 16 km bike
- Youth: 5 km run, 5 km bike
Categories include Classic Solo, Classic Team, and Youth Solo and Team. The youth race is for those under 14. The Classic race accepts participants aged 12 and older. For logistical reasons there is no run-only or bike-only entry; participants must complete both disciplines, either solo or with a teammate.
The field is limited to 200 racers. Listed entry fees are CA$115 for Classic and CA$55 for Youth. There are no early-bird or late entries; places are allocated first come, first served. Registration and any additional merchandise orders close on August 15 at midnight.
Registration fees cover branded items, a post-race barbecue by donation, beer and nonalcoholic drinks, a stocked aid station, draw prizes and podium prizes. All funds raised benefit the Abi Moore Scholarship Fund. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
