Tears and Gears 2026
Tears and Gears 2026 is a mountain duathlon held at the Elk Valley Nordic Centre in Fernie, British Columbia on August 29, 2026. The event began in 2010, ran annually through 2019, and returns after a six year hiatus to raise funds for the Abi Moore Scholarship Fund.
Participation is limited to 200 racers. The format combines trail running and mountain biking; there is no option to run only or bike only. Categories include Classic Solo, Classic Team, and a Youth race. Participants under 14 may enter the Youth race as a soloist or on a team. Racers aged 12 and older may enter the Classic race.
Distances
- Classic 11 km run and 16 km bike
- Youth 5 km run and 5 km bike
Entry fees include event branded swag, a stocked aid station, draw prizes, and podium prizes. A post race BBQ will be available by donation and beverages including FBC beer, sparkling water, and pop will be offered. All funds raised benefit the Abi Moore Scholarship Fund. Listed prices are Classic CA$115 and Youth CA$55. Registration and additional merchandise orders close on August 15 and entries are handled on a first come first served basis.
