About the race
Lace Up for Literacy is a community event held in Fernie, British Columbia. The main activity is a 5K walk or run hosted at Annex Park on 12th Avenue. This event serves as a fundraiser for the Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy (CBAL). CBAL is an organization that provides free literacy and lifelong learning programs for individuals of all ages across the Columbia Basin and Boundary regions.
Participants can choose from several registration categories:
- 5K Adult/Youth (ages 12 and over)
- 5K Children (under the age of 12)
- 5K Virtual
Registration for children under 12 is free of charge, with t-shirts available for purchase until a specific deadline. Adult and youth participants have the choice of entries that either include or exclude an event t-shirt. The virtual option allows individuals to complete their 5K distance at any location between April 18 and April 26, after which they can upload their results to the Race Roster platform. The local event takes place within the grounds of Annex Park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
