TCS New York City Marathon Training Series 18M
The TCS New York City Marathon Training Series 18M is an organized long-distance run held in Central Park. Taking place in September, this event serves as the second part of a two-race series designed to help participants prepare for a full marathon distance. The course covers a total of 18 miles, consisting of three loops within the park.
The route begins on East Drive near 102nd Street and travels north around the park's northern end, including the ascent of Harlem Hill. Participants continue south along West Drive, passing the Reservoir and navigating a series of rolling hills. The course includes sections near the marathon finish line at West 67th Street and passes landmarks such as the 72nd Street Transverse, the Central Park Boathouse, and Cat Hill. The final loop concludes with a turn onto the 102nd Street Cross Drive to reach the finish line.
Hydration stations providing water and electrolyte drinks are located along the course, with energy gels available during the second and third loops. After finishing, participants receive water, bagels, apples, and pretzels. The event features a pace team to help runners maintain specific target times.
