NYCRUNS Squirrel Stampede 10K - Governors Island
The NYCRUNS Squirrel Stampede is a 10 km road race held on Governors Island in New York. The course consists of two loops around the island and is USATF certified. Race entry includes ferry rides for the runner and accompanying guests, an official race shirt, and post-race food that does not contain nuts.
A nearby Festival Area serves as bib and shirt pickup, bag check, restroom access, and the post-race refreshment zone. Bag check requires a single clear bag (18 x 24 inches) and organizers may search bag contents. Portable toilets will be available. Water and electrolyte fluids are provided on course and at the finish. Post-race refreshments include fresh fruit and bagels.
Start corrals are pace based and assigned by letter; corral assignment appears on the bib and is determined by the pace listed in the NYCRUNS dashboard. Bibs are available for pick up on race morning in the Festival Area using a unique QR code. NYCRUNS members can have bibs mailed if they register at least 20 days before the event and the shipping address is in the United States; non-members may add bib mailing for an extra fee. Shirts are not mailed.
Due to the high number of turns on the course, handcycle and wheelchair athletes are not advised to register. Results and awards are posted after the race, with overall and age group awards for male, female, and non-binary categories. Event policies include no refunds and no transfers, no strollers or dogs, possible disqualification for unsafe use of earbuds, and enforcement of time limits.
