NYCRUNS Squirrel Stampede 10K
The NYCRUNS Squirrel Stampede 10K takes place on Governors Island on September 12, 2026. The course is two loops of the island and is USATF certified. The route offers views of New York Harbor and the island shoreline.
Entry includes ferry rides for the runner and accompanying guests, race entry, an official race tech shirt, and post-race food. The Festival Area, a short walk from the ferry terminal, houses bib and shirt pickup, bag check, portable bathrooms, and post-race refreshments. The Start and Finish are located near the Festival Area.
Start corrals are pace based and assigned by letter (AA through F); corral assignment appears on the bib and is based on the pace shown in the runner dashboard. Bag check requires a single clear bag (18 x 24 inches); items must fit inside that bag and may be searched. Water and electrolyte fluids are provided on course and at the finish. Post-race offerings include fresh fruit and a Brooklyn bagel with schmear. Shirts are available for pick up on race day only and sizes are not guaranteed.
Bibs are picked up in the Festival Area on race morning using a unique QR code. NYCRUNS members may receive mailed bibs at no charge; non-members may add mailing for a fee. Mailing is available only if registration is completed at least 20 days before the event and to U.S. addresses. Shirts are not mailed.
Handcycle and wheelchair athletes are advised against this course because of the high number of turns. Results will be emailed and posted after the race. Awards are given to the top three male, female, and non-binary finishers overall by gun time, and to the top three in each age group by net/chip time for the following groups: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and over.
Standard policies apply: no refunds or transfers, time limits on the course, no strollers or dogs, earbuds that hinder awareness may lead to disqualification, and confetti cannons are prohibited. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
