NYCRUNS Squirrel Stampede 10K
The event is the seventh running of the NYCRUNS Squirrel Stampede, held on Governors Island. Entry includes ferry rides for the runner and guests, race entry, an official race shirt, and post-race food that does not contain nuts.
The course is a USATF-certified 10 km laid out as two loops of the island, offering views of New York Harbor. A Festival Area near the ferry terminal serves as bib and shirt pickup, bag check, restroom access, and a post-race refreshment zone.
Start corrals are pace based and assigned by letter (AA through F); corral assignment appears on the bib and can be updated via the NYCRUNS dashboard. Amenities include a single clear-bag policy for bag check, portable bathrooms, water and electrolyte fluids on course and at the finish, fresh fruit and bagels after the race, and race photos delivered by email with one free download available.
Bibs are available for pick up in the Festival Area on race morning with a unique QR code; NYCRUNS members may receive mailed bibs at no cost, while non-members can add mailed bib service for an extra fee if they register at least 20 days before the event and provide a U.S. mailing address. Ferry service departs from the Battery Maritime Building at 10 South Street in Manhattan and is free for runners and their guests on race morning. Mass transit and bike options serve the ferry terminal.
Handcycle and wheelchair athletes are not advised to register because the course has many turns. Results are emailed and posted online. Awards are offered to the top three male, female, and non-binary overall finishers by gun time, with age-group awards by net time. Event policies include no strollers or dogs, possible disqualification for earbuds that hinder awareness, a prohibition on confetti cannons, and time limits enforced by race marshals.
