NYCRUNS Squirrel Stampede 10K
The NYCRUNS Squirrel Stampede is scheduled for September 12, 2026 on Governors Island in New York. Entry includes ferry rides for the runner and guests, race entry, an official race shirt, and post-race food that contains no nuts.
The race distance is 10K, run as two loops around Governors Island. The course is USATF-certified and offers views of New York Harbor and the city skyline. The Festival Area, a short walk from the ferry terminal, houses bib and shirt pickup, bag check, portable bathrooms, and the start and finish area.
Amenities and logistics are specified in advance. Bag check requires a single clear bag; organizers reserve the right to search contents. Water and electrolyte fluids are provided on course and at the finish. Post-race refreshments include fresh fruit and bagels. Tech shirts are the event giveaway and are available for pickup on race day only; sizes are not guaranteed. Event photos are emailed after the race, with one photo available to download for free.
Wheelchair and handcycle athletes are not advised to register because of the number of turns on the course. Results will be emailed and posted online; awards are given to the top three male, female, and non-binary finishers overall by gun time, plus age-group awards. Standard policies apply: no refunds or transfers, strollers and dogs are not allowed, earbuds that hinder awareness may lead to disqualification, celebratory confetti cannons are prohibited, and time limits are enforced.
