Tavistock Triathlon | The Squirrel
Tavistock Triathlon takes place at Mount Kelly in Tavistock, set on the edge of Dartmoor National Park. The event uses a 50 m Olympic legacy pool and stages swim, bike and run legs across roads and open moorland, finishing in front of Mount Kelly School.
Three adult distances are offered:
- LITTLE SQUIRREL - Super Sprint: 200m swim | 12.3k bike | 2.5k run
- BIG SQUIRREL - Sprint: 400m swim | 18k bike | 5.4k run
- OLYMPIC SQUIRREL - Olympic: 800m swim | 36k bike | 10k run
Junior races for ages 5 to 16 take place in the afternoon. Olympic distance entries are limited. Route maps are provided for each bike and run course.
The event forms part of the Cornish Tri Series. Series scoring uses a best-of-three format plus a volunteering requirement; age groups range from Open (17-39) to Super Vintage (70+). Volunteers perform roles including setup, registration, marshaling, transition and finish-line duties; most roles are open to those aged 13 and over. Rewards for volunteering include a full credit on entry fees for volunteers and a 50 percent credit when a friend or family member volunteers alongside a competitor. All finishers receive a medal.
