Event overview

Tartan Warrior takes place on 28 March 2026 at Fit Body Farm, Wheatrig Farm, Kilmaurs, Ayrshire KA3 2NG. The event includes obstacle-course racing with award recognition at national level. The venue won Best Obstacle Facility at the 2024 UKOCR awards and the event has been recognised as UK Obstacle Course Event of the Year.

Race formats and distances

• 3 km Short Course - approx 3 km with 30+ obstacles, fields, hills, streams, trails.
• 400 m Sprint - 400 m with 12 obstacles focusing on balance, agility and grip.
• 4 x 100 m Mixed Relay - relay on the 400 m course; each runner completes three obstacles.

The 3 km Short Course is also the British OCR 3 km Championship and acts as Race 1 in the 3 km OCR UK Series and the Scottish OCR Series. Races use chip timing and mini waves; a multi-band penalty system is recommended for the championship.

Entries, categories and awards

Events are open from age 10+ (some fun runs suggested for younger children). British Obstacle Sports membership is required to compete in the 3 km championship. Age-group, international and adaptive categories are provided, with trophies, British Championship rosettes and a £100 prize for the overall winner. Finishers of the 3 km receive a British OCR 3k Championship patch. Finisher medals and shirts are reserved for the Sunday classic courses.

Logistics and rules

On-site facilities include portable toilets, food and refreshments; no showers. Parking offers up to 80 hard-surface spaces plus field parking (weather permitting); a small parking donation for a local charity is requested. There is no bag drop but a key drop will be available. Rules include appropriate footwear (no football boots or spikes), parental permission for under-16s, one adult may accompany up to three children under 10, non-refundable entry fees, and a £5 fee for entry transfers.
