Talk 2 Me Fall4U 5K and 10K
This event is a community run and walk at Shawnee Mission Park, Shelter 1, 7900 Renner Rd., Shawnee Mission, KS 66219. It is organized to benefit Talk 2 Me, a 501c3 that provides education, an open sharing platform, and an action and accountability plan to support mental and physical health and suicide prevention.
The program describes classroom and peer education about underlying illness, personal testimonies from people in recovery, an accountability system tied to community service hours, and small cards for students listing safe contacts and crisis numbers. The organization also provides counseling grants, grants to women and young people for education and career development, and a mental health advocacy scholarship.
Event options include in person and virtual participation. The in person program includes a 5K run or walk, a new 10K distance, and a short run for children aged roughly 3 to 21 or those needing a shorter course. The children s run is scheduled after the 5K and follows the start line to Mission Rd and back to the finish. Virtual participants may complete a 5K at any time and place; shirts can be mailed with an additional $7.50 for shipping and handling.
